Bourgogne Franche-Comté

At the very heart of France, you will find the rural wine-producing region of Burgundy. A 55-mile strip of vineyards forming a complex mosaic of numerous plots called climats each with their own name and a unique quality due to local natural conditions. The exceptional value of the climats of Burgundy is recognized throughout the world and listed among UNESCO’s World Heritage Sites.

The wine economy in Burgundy depends to a considerable degree on the outstanding performance of female winemakers who carry forward tradition and innovation alike. The wine domain Hospices de Beaune, a flamboyant gothic style property owning 60 hectares of wine, is entrusted to Ludivine Griveau taking charge of the Hospice’s annual wine auction that is of utmost importance for the whole region.

Besides wine, Burgundy is known for cultivating the blackcurrant “Noir de Bourgogne” which is the basic ingredient for the famous intense liqueur “Crème de cassis”, originating from family-run Burgundian liqueur manufactories. Due to its very high content of antioxidants, the little black fruit is particularly favoured for health purposes.
